Spartak 78 U9 Blacks 2 v 3 Melbourn Dynamos U9B

Spartakís U9 Blacks were desperately unfortunate to lose a very close game between two sides keen to play good football. Spartak twice fought back to level having fallen behind, with long range strikes from Andrew Kerr and James Watson, but conceded a third goal late on, from which they could not recover. Spartak controlled the game for long periods and played neat football, and a draw would have been a fair result.

Bedwell Rangers U9B 3 v 4 Spartak 78 U9 Blacks

Another superb game which saw plenty of efforts for both sides. Spartak raced into a 4-1 lead thanks to a Joe Davis hat-trick and a Thomas Pearson strike, but gave two goals away to bring the score to 4-3 which made for a tense finale. Spartak managed to hang on thanks to a couple of excellent saves from David Watson.

Spartak 78 U9 Blacks 0 v 1 Letchworth GC Eagles U9 Reds

The Blacksí winning run came to an end at Herbertís Farm thanks to a solitary first half goal against the Eagles Reds. The match was as close as the scoreline suggests, and was played at a high tempo despite the bitter weather. Some gutsy defending, particularly by Captain Max Bach with a man-of-the-match performance, kept Spartak in the game, and they almost claimed an equaliser after dominating the final quarter of the match, but it was not to be as the Eagles held on for their win.

Spartak 78 U9 Blacks 1 v 0 Stevenage Borough Cobras U9B

A great performance from the U9 Blacks secured their second league win in three outings. This was a very hard game in Siberian conditions at Herbertís Farm. Both teams created a few chances, with man of the match Lorenzo Sahinoz eventually blasting home the decisive goal at the second attempt. The Blacks will hope to build on their recent good form in the Royston Crow League Cup fixture next Saturday.

Spartak 78 U9 Blacks 2 v 2 Buntingford Cougars U9B

Spartak U9 Blacks played some of their best football ever and dominated the game from beginning to end but could not get the goals that their performance deserved. Spartak striker James Watson gave his team the lead early on with a well taken goal when the ball fell to him in space in the penalty area. But the second goal would not come despite Spartak being in the ascendancy, and the score remained 1-0 at half time. The second half followed the same pattern with wave after wave of Spartak pressure, but the Cougars equalised from their first real attack, with a classic breakaway goal. Spartak responded well and came straight back to retake the lead when Lorenzo Sahinoz scored with a precisely placed shot through a sea of Cougars defenders. Cougars scored a late equaliser from a free kick, but again Spartak came roaring back, looking to score the winner, but ran out of time.
